We can accept referrals from:
- GPs
- Schools
- Social services
- Other CAMHS services
- Mental health professionals
- Educational psychologists
- Special educational needs co-ordinators
In order to help us process your referral, please try to provide us with as much detail as possible, including:
- Current concerns or difficulties
- Risks to the young person, family, or others
- Severity of problems, and the impact on the family
- Any relevant family history
- Past CAMHS
- Details of any other agencies involved
Please make sure that the young person and family are aware of the referral, and consent to it before sending anything to us.
Referral information and criteria for individual teams can be found on each services listing on the service finder.
The referral process
Our borough community services operate a duty rota during normal working hours. This means that there will be someone available to answer telephone queries and concerns from young people, parents, carers, and professionals.
The duty worker will review your referral to screen for risks to the child or young person. If we do have any concerns about any immediate risks to the safety and wellbeing of a child or young person, or we do not have enough information, we will contact the referrer, and any other professionals involved.
All of our referrals are reviewed at service meetings. We will contact the referrer, and family to inform them of the outcome of the referral.
