Overview

Join us in the eating disorders genetics initiative (EDGI).
Is open to anyone who:

  • Is aged 16+ 
  • Lives in England 
  • Is currently experiencing or has experienced an eating disorder in the past

We hope 10,000 people will take part: patients with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder or any other eating disorder - are welcome to join.

Eating Disorders

Inclusion Criteria

  • Participants referred to an eating disorder-specific NHS service aged 16 or over
  • Participants who have a lifetime occurrence of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorder, or any other
    eating disorder defined in DSM-5
  • Participants who have been diagnosed and/or treated for anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa or binge-eating disorder
    or any other eating disorder defined in DSM-5
  • Participants with a probable and undiagnosed eating disorder identified through a screening questionnaire
  • Participants who have not stated their refusal to take part in future research
  • Participants who are willing to donate a biological sample for genetic analysis

Exclusion Criteria

Individuals without capacity to provide informed consent
Individuals under the age of 16
Individuals who do not have a current diagnosis or who do not meet the screening criteria for DSM-5 eating disorders.
