What is reference management software and what does it do?
Reference management software allows you to effectively manage references for reports, articles and systematic reviews and automatically create in-text references and bibliographies for your work. You can use reference management software to organise the information that is important to you and have quick access to important documents when you need them.
What refererence mangement software is available within SLaM?
The free reference management software Mendeley is approved for use within SLaM, subject to local IT policies. Contact the IT department to request an install on your SLaM computer.
What is Mendeley?
Mendeley provides reference management software to help you get the most out of research. Transfer existing PDF documents from your hard drive to form a reference library, or export references in RIS format from the Reay House Library catalogue or from the NHS healthcare databases available through Athens. Create sub-folders to organise your research and use the Mendeley plug in for Microsoft Word to save time while writing by inserting references quickly and easily in to essays, reports and articles.
Mendeley is available for Windows, Mac and Linux. The software allows you to store references and PDFs and read, review and annotate documents.
