Honorary Music Therapists

Honorary Music Therapists

South London and Maudlsey NHS Foundation Trust

We are looking to recruit up to two HCPC registered Music therapists, on honorary contracts, to work up to one whole day each on adult acute wards at Lambeth Hospital and the Maudsley Hospital.  The roles will involve running an open Music therapy group and there will be opportunities to work with individual clients also.  The roles will also include attending relevant professional/clinical meetings and entering notes on the e-notes system.  Clinical supervision will be provided by the resident Music Therapist & Management Supervision by the Head of Arts therapies on either Monday or Tuesday.

Both roles are unpaid, and according to South London and Maudsley policy, honorary contracts are limited to one year’s duration.

This is an ideal opportunity for a newly qualified Music Therapist to gain experience in this area, or for someone with experience in another clinical area, wishing to expand their experience with this client group.

Please email jo.hutcheson@slam.nhs.uk  by  30 October 2017 enclosing a CV and covering letter.

Please note that while this advert is ongoing at the moment, if a very high volume of responses are received then applications will be closed until shortlisting of those applications already received is complete, so apply soon to avoid disappointment or delay. If you do not hear back within 6 weeks of closing, please assume that you have been unsuccessful on this occasion.

If there are currently no vacancies advertised, please check again in the near future. We regularly recruit Honorary Music Therapists into a pool, from which we can then place them as suitable placements come up. Each round of recruitment will be advertised here with information about how to apply.

Please note that as a large Trust we receive high demand for clinical internships and voluntary experience. Our primary obligations are to provide placements for NHS commissioned training programmes and so we cannot accept or respond to direct enquiries for experience.

All paid positions will be advertised on NHS Jobs (www.jobs.nhs.uk). In the meantime, the BPS run a number of events during the year for students and new graduates, which will be advertised here on http://beta.bps.org.uk/events.

Thank you for your interest.
