Trust welcomes new Director of Finance
We are very pleased to announce that the trust has appointed a new Director of Finance, Andy Bell.
The role, reporting to Gus Heafield as Chief Financial Officer, is a new one for the organisation that will help us meet the operational challenges we face over the coming years as well as playing a significant leadership role in the delivery of our strategy. Andy Bell will take up his position at the beginning of June.
The Director of Finance will lead and manage the day to day operations of the finance department; lead the processes for the reporting and management of financial performance; and together with the Chief Financial officer lead the processes for financial planning and financial strategy in the Trust; and provide financial advice to the Trust and the Board on financial issues.
Andy has worked in the NHS since 2003 and has held senior finance management roles across a number of Trusts in London and the South East, most recently as Acting Director of Finance at the London Ambulance Trust where he was responsible for a turnover of £340 million.
Andy is a qualified accountant and graduate of the NHS finance training scheme. He is passionate about building great teams, something that was recognised as his team at the London Ambulance Trust won the HfMA Havelock Training award in 2016.
Speaking about the appointment Andy said:
"It is a huge privilege to be appointed as the Director of Finance. The Trust has a fantastic reputation for how it cares for its patients and service users in an increasingly challenging environment. I can't wait to get started, find out more about the services at SLaM and meet as many people as I can along the way.
I'm committed to building on the great work already carried out by the finance team in order to make a positive contribution to the Trust, Its staff and patients. Ultimately, I want to be part of the trust’s continuing journey to ensure that each and every patient receives the best possible care now and in the future."
Gus Heafield, Chief Financial Officer said:
“I am delighted to welcome Andy to the role. He is a highly respected and skilled Director of Finance and I am confident that with his expertise and leadership, and his passion for improving the lives of the populations we serve, he will be a valuable asset to our team.”
