South London and Maudsley’s Gabrielle Richards presented with MBE by Prince of Wales

Gabrielle Richards, Head of Inclusion, Recovery, Professional Head of Occupational Therapy and Allied Health Professionals at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust received her MBE today from Prince William, the Prince of Wales, at Windsor Castle, after being recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list 2022.

The Queen’s Birthday Honours, which mark the extraordinary contributions and service of people across the United Kingdom, were announced on June 2, 2022.

Gabrielle has worked at South London and Maudsley for 29 years – her whole working career.

Gabrielle said: “The Prince of Wales was really interested in mental health and the stigma associated with it.

“I was so surprised to receive the honour of the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the Birthday 2022 Honours List.

“The honour is for services to mental health as Professional Head of Occupational Therapy and Allied Health Professionals.

“I am lucky enough to have made a career commitment to mental health and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. I feel humbled to receive this amazing recognition and feel privileged to work in such a great organisation which has supported me along the way.”

Nathalie Zacharias, Director of Therapies at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust said: “Huge congratulations to Gabrielle who has been recognised for her commitment and dedication to mental health through her work at the Trust. This is extremely well deserved.”
