Catering for our inpatients
We are implementing the following changes to our catering service from 1 April 2025.
- Modelling Meals: To further support healthy eating habits, modelling meals, where staff or carers eat with service users, will now be a standard offering on the Eating Disorder Unit and Older Adult Wards. For other wards, this service will be available upon request to meet individual needs, ensuring a personalised approach to promoting healthy eating.
- Saturday Continental Breakfast: In line with our commitment to providing consistent, quality meals, the Trust will offer a continental breakfast seven days a week. Service users will collect their prepared breakfast items directly, empowering them with more autonomy over their breakfast choices.
- Saturday Brunch: To enhance the Saturday meal experience, the lunch menu will include a wider variety of breakfast items, such as eggs, beans, sausages (vegetarian and pork), hash browns, mash, and peas, in addition to an alternative main meal option. This change allows for a more varied and satisfying weekend meal offering.
- Maudsley Breakfast Hostess Services: The breakfast hostess service at Maudsley will now be available exclusively on approved Older Adult Wards. For all other wards, service users will collect their prepared breakfast items directly, offering them greater control and flexibility over their mealtime choices.
- Digital Menu for Enhanced Choice: To further empower service users and provide more autonomy in meal selection, the Trust will introduce a digital version of the main menu, accessible on smart devices where applicable. This will complement the A3 menu available on the wards, allowing service users to easily view meal options and make informed choices at their convenience.
