THU is staffed by an experienced team, many of whom have previous experience of working on in-patient environments where violence and aggression is common, such as forensic and Pyschosis Intensive Care Unit wards.

We are a stable team who has been working with challenging behavior and behavior modification for the past six years.

About the Lead Clinician

Dr David O’Flynn, Consultant Psychiatrist in Rehabilitation and Challenging Behaviour

David has been a consultant rehabilitation psychiatrist with SLaM since 2001, and has worked in a range of rehabilitation locations in Lambeth, both in the community and in hospital settings. He has been Consultant to Tony Hillis Unit since 2010.

He was co-author of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation chapter in the 2003 edition of US definitive book, Schizophrenia .

He works with SLaM’s HIV and mental health team, CASCAID, making him one of the few psychiatrists with expertise in HIV psychiatry in the UK, bringing that expertise to THU. He has worked with the World Health Organisation in Geneva on HIV. He has collaborators with UNAIDS and the Global Fund.

He works widely across mental health and the creative arts, Chairing the Adamson Collection Trust, an internationally recognised collection of art by people living in an asylum.
