Biography

Kevin Tierney is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the Service for Complex Autism and Associated Neurodevelopmental Disorders (SCAAND) and the CAMHS Neuropsychiatry and Challenging Behaviour Team. He is part of the senior leadership group of this service, as well as providing clinical interventions for young people and families with complex neurodevelopmental difficulties.

His clinical role is to provide individualised and adapted interventions for young people, parents, carers and schools to meet the needs of young people with autism and co-occurring conditions in the context of most broadly average intellectual abilities. This includes supporting better understanding of young people with complex difficulties (individualised psychoeducation), and interventions to support change (adapted Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, parent and school consultations on behaviour change).

He also provides teaching and training for clinical trainees in psychology, as well as teaching for junior doctors and other CAMHS professionals. Kevin is involved in some research projects at Kings College London aimed at improving the mental health and wellbeing for young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties.

Kevin has previously worked at the Children’s Neurosciences Department at the Evelina Children’s Hospital and at the Social Communication Disorders Clinic at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.
