Biography

Dr. Neophytou is a practitioner psychologist registered with the Health Care Professions Council. Dr. Neophytou achieved a BSc in psychology at University College London. She then completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London. Prior to qualifying Dr. Neophytou worked with children and young people in the community with neurodevelopmental differences and young people who were looked after or involved with children’s services.

Currently, Dr. Neophytou works as a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist for the Adolescent At-risk and Forensic Service, which assesses and treats young people who are engaged in, or present significant risk of, serious violence, fire-setting and/or sexually inappropriate behaviour and/or who are at risk of harm or exploitation from others. Dr Neophytou has a special interest in working with young people at risk of criminal or sexual exploitation. Dr. Neophytou’s current interests include neurodevelopmental differences among female adolescents at-risk of offending or violence and young people at risk of child sexual and criminal exploitation. Dr. Neophytou is also involved in developing school-based approaches for providing therapy (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) to young people at risk of exclusion.

Dr. Neophytou provides teaching on the assessment and treatment of adolescent mental health difficulties on the MSc Mental Health and Doctorate of Clinical Psychology Courses (DClinPsy) at the Institute of Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience, King’s College London. She also supervises DClinPsy research projects and clinical placements.
