Loss of potential: teens diagnosed with depression show reduction in educational achievement from primary school to GCSE
Teenagers who are diagnosed with depression during school show a substantial decline in attainment in Year 11, new research using South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust data has found.
The King’s College London researchers suggest that targeted educational support for children struggling with depression might particularly benefit boys and those from deprived backgrounds, who were especially vulnerable subgroups in this study, although all children with depression might benefit from such support.

Freddie Flintoff meets experts by experience and clinicians at Maudsley Hospital for BBC One documentary exploring Bulimia
Cricketer, Andrew Flintoff MBE has met clinicians and an expert by experience at Maudsley Hospital’s Adult Eating Disorder Services, as part of a documentary for BBC One.
In the programme, Freddie attempts to find out and why eating disorders in general are so hidden in men and seeks to understand the causes and impact of bulimia on his life.

South London and Maudsley continues tradition of innovation by deploying Ox-ehealth’s Digital Care Assistant
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is using the Oxehealth Digital Care Assistant in the seclusion suite of Eileen Skellern 1 ward.
The women’s ward has a tradition of improving the therapeutic environment and is using the Digital Care Assistant to support clinical staff to monitor the safety and physical health of patients when they are unwell.
