Dr Emma Hotopf
Medical Psychotherapist and Psychoanalyst
Emma is a Medical Psychotherapist and Psychoanalyst. She trained in Psychiatry at the Maudsley, Psychotherapy at the Tavistock and Psychoanalysis with the British Psychoanalytical Society, at the Institute of Psychoanalysis.
She is interested in working with people who repeat destructive behaviours and have difficulties in their relationships and developing in their lives. At the heart of psychoanalytic work is the need for a stable longer-term setting that offers a place where someone’s complex difficulties can be thought about in depth. The work involves working together to understand what factors, including unconscious ones, are contributing to someone’s on-going psychological difficulties.
Emma is involved in developing research in the area of self-harm and psychotherapy.
