Maudsley Health

Adult Mental Health Services and CAMHS

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) is working with Macani, a highly respected Abu Dhabi based organisation with a mission to develop high quality mental health care within the United Arab Emirates.

‘Maudsley Health’ has provided CAMHS services in Abu Dhabi for just over 12 months.  The approach is innovative and exciting and is generating significant interest across the Region.  Adult mental health services will soon be opening.  The existing service in the UAE has a core group of staff based there with visiting clinicians from SLaM providing additional resource and expertise.  We plan to replicate this model across the region as part of our ambitious strategy.   As a result, we are looking for high calibre, experienced staff who engage well with patients and are committed to delivering the highest possible quality service using evidence-based practice.

We are keen to talk to the following staff groups who have experience working with adults, adolescents or children;

Clinical Psychology

Occupational Therapy

Speech and Language Therapy

CBT Therapists  - Applicants will be qualified in CBT and be able to fulfil the requirements to register as a Healthcare professional  in the UAE

Family Therapy - Applicants will be qualified in Family Therapy and be able to fulfil the requirements to register as a Healthcare professional in the UAE

A thorough induction programme will be offered along with a commitment to continuing professional development.  The trust and the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IOPPN) will supplement teaching and supervision remotely using technology.  Direct supervision will also be available within the service.

The possibility of a permanent post with the trust if returning to the UK can be discussed as part of the package.

As this is a new and developing initiative a degree of flexibility and creativity will be required together with an appreciation of relevant cultural issues.

The ability to speak Arabic would be helpful but is not essential.

The successful applicants will need to fulfil the professional registration requirements of the relevant UAE Health Authority.
