Services

We provide specialist forensic services, treating complex and high-risk cases. Many of the young people we work with are vulnerable, and present with severe psychopathology.

Young people referred to us may be involved with the criminal justice system or be at high risk of being so in the future. They are likely to present with behavioural problems like violence and aggression towards others, harming themselves, fire setting or engaging in sexually inappropriate behaviour.

We aim to provide a fast-track service for cases requiring an urgent response because of the nature of the presenting problem or, in some cases, the time limits imposed by criminal proceedings. We conduct home and community assessments where appropriate.

Our service provides assessment and treatment for young people with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), Body Dysmorphic Disorder and related conditions including Trichotillomania, Excoriation disorder, Hoarding disorder, Emetophobia and Olfactory Reference Syndrome. We also assess and treat OCD, BDD and related disorders in young people with a developmental disorder, e.g. autism spectrum disorders or neurological conditions.

We provide a range of evidence-based care packages, tailored to meet the needs of the young person and their parents or carers.

Many of the young people we see are offered individual Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which may involve parents or carers and other family members.

We have an active research programme and are committed to increasing knowledge and understanding of the disorders we treat, and developing our treatments to help improve the outcomes for young people with OCD.

We also offer an extensive programme of training and consultancy in the assessment, treatment and management of different aspects of OCD through seminars, workshops, individual case supervision and research project supervision.

All service users referred to our service will be expected to maintain contact with their local CAMHS or GP service. These services will receive correspondence from our team throughout treatment.

We are a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for adolescents between the ages of 12 to 18 years old. Our unit is part of the South London Partnership, and is located within the heart of south London at the Bethlem Royal hospital.

The CAMHS Adolescent PICU is an 8-bedded mixed-sex unit for young people with an acute mental health illness who cannot be safely cared for on a general adolescent unit.

The unit offers access to PICU beds to the local population of South London, however will also offer access to those young people from all other areas if the admission criteria is met and beds are available.

Our unit provides short, focused admissions (six to eight weeks) to decrease the level of risk so that the young person may be transferred back to a less restrictive environment.

We treat young people experiencing severe mental health problems, and who require a hospital admission within a more intensive and secure setting. All of the young people admitted to our unit will be detained under the Mental Health Act 1983.

Should the young person's level of risks exceed that which can be safely managed on a PICU, or their level of risk is continuing beyond a reasonable period, they may be transferred to a low or medium secure unit for on-going treatment.

We offer a broad range of treatments, including medication, cognitive behaviour therapy, group work, psycho educational family work, systemic family work and art psychotherapy. Our multi-disciplinary team is made up of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, teachers, occupational therapists, social workers and other therapists.

A 24-hour, seven day a week emergency admission service is offered for both new presentations to services via A&E, the police, or for those requiring transfer from general adolescent units within the South London Partnership.

We maintain close links with the person's referring team to ensure they experience a smooth transition back to the local General Adolescent unit or in some cases straight to the community. Our ward is part of the larger CAMHS inpatient care pathway across the South London Partnership, which includes crisis care, generic adolescent inpatient care and a supported discharge service.

The South London Partnership (SLP) is a collaboration between South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and South West London and St George's NHS Foundation Trust. The SLP aims to provide a local Tier 4 CAMHS provision across South London to avoid admissions out of area to private hospitals.

Our service is for children and adolescents with difficulties arising from exposure to traumatic and severely stressful events.

We offer assessment and treatment to children and adolescents who experience severe and/or treatment-resistant post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety disorders and unipolar depression. We also provide second opinion assessments for the diagnosis and treatment of complex trauma, anxiety and/or depression.

We deliver clinical training and offer clinical supervision to local teams and schools. We collaborate with the UK government and local commissioning groups to set up and manage public health initiatives related to disasters and emergencies.

We lead in research on ways of improving and disseminating evidence-based treatments for traumatised young people and their families. People seen in our clinic are often invited to participate in ongoing research projects.

We also provide training in the assessment and treatment of post-traumatic responses in young people and families.

This is a specialist service, available to people from across the UK. Our service provides assessment and treatment programmes for people with chronic fatigue syndrome. We offer evidence-based treatments that are routinely evaluated. Our goal is to increase the person's functioning and reduce the severity of their fatigue.

We also offer assessment and treatment to people with fatigue associated with a chronic disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and HIV. Our team is at the forefront of research, continually testing new treatments and new ways of delivering them.
 

Clare Ward is in the Ladywell Unit at University Hospital Lewisham. We provide services for men and women, aged 18-65, with acute psychiatric illnesses. Acute illnesses start quickly and have distressing symptoms. We provide care for people who live in the London Borough of Lewisham.
 

Croydon Community Forensic Team based at Queens Resource Centre, Queens Road, who care for people who have a permanent address in the London Borough of Croydon and provide community-based assessment, treatment and care for people, aged 18-65.

A Forensic community team provide care for people with offending histories who, with appropriate care and treatment, pose a low risk to the public. They may also be subject to Home Office restrictions, Probation Orders or have judicial proceedings outstanding.

The team is made up of psychiatrists, community psychiatric nurses, social workers Psychologists and occupational therapists.

Who work closely with the police, the public protection unit and the local Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangement (MAPPA) team to support people in the community.

Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) provide care and treatment for people with serious mental health difficulties, including but not limited to psychotic illnesses, mood and personality disorders, and other disorders. Southwark has four Community Mental Health Teams covering different parts of Southwark:

• Borough, Bermondsey and Rotherhithe
• Walworth
• Camberwell and Peckham
• Dulwich and Nunhead

Referrals to the CMHT should be made via the Primary Care Mental Health Team for North Southwark. People will be allocated to a community mental health team based on where their GP practice is, or if they don’t have a GP, we will use their address to find their nearest CMHT. We are a multi-disciplinary service with range of professionals including social workers, nurses, doctors, psychologists, occupational therapists and specialist workers providing employment support, benefits advice and social inclusion.

We provide a broad range of medical, psychological and social treatments and interventions. We work closely with acute and crisis services, and mental health services in primary care to ensure that service users receive the right care at the right time.

Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) provide care and treatment for people with serious mental health difficulties, including but not limited to psychotic illnesses, mood and personality disorders, and other disorders.

The South West Lambeth Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) for older adults provides community-based assessment, treatment and care for people, aged over 65, who have mental health problems.

We care for people who live in the London Borough of Lambeth (South).

We are a team of psychiatrists, psychological therapists, mental health nurses, social workers and occupational therapists who specialise in older adult mental health care. Wherever possible, we provide care in people's homes.

We help people to maintain their health, and to live as independently as possible in their communities.

Our community Mental Health Team for Older Adults provides community-based assessment, treatment and care for people aged over 65 who have mental health problems and younger people with a diagnosis of dementia.

We are a team of psychiatrists, psychological therapists, mental health nurses, social workers and occupational therapists who specialise in older adult mental health care. We help people to maintain their health and to live as independently as possible in their community.

Our community Mental Health Team for older adults (Southwark) provides community-based assessment, treatment and care for people aged over 65 who have mental health problems and younger people with a diagnosis of dementia.

We are a team of psychiatrists, psychological therapists, mental health nurses, social workers and occupational therapists who specialise in older adult mental health care. We help people to maintain their health and to live as independently as possible in their community.

This service is for clients who live in Croydon Borough aged 18 to 65 who use SLaM community services. It is a voluntary option and clients must be able and willing to take part in activities. All clients will be screened for suitability to engage in activities.

Summary:

CORE staff are Working from Home and offer virtual meetings and calls. We look forward to supporting eligible Croydon clients. CORE co-work with CMHT and IAPT staff by offering their clients help and support on their journey towards Resilience and Recovery. We accept referral from clients who meet our criteria through the Community Mental Health Team or Relevant Advisor within Croydon.

CORE has two pathways:

1. The Reablement pathway is offered, as an alternative to care co-ordination. Staff will work with clients for a period of 6-12 weeks, with a view to helping them to develop resilience and/or reducing their dependence on mental health services. This Pathway does not include prescription of medication, so clients will need a GP to manage medical interventions. Reablement pathway will look at Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and at times refer to appropriate services.
2. The Vocational Pathway provide a service for clients who are able and willing to take part in activities this is not a mandatory option. As part of Vocational Pathway CORE staff will offer person centred support after referral and assessment, as either a one off piece of advice or continuing sessions up to one year. This Pathway is delivered on a co-working basis with CMHT staff. Vocational work is for clients who would like to explore social or community activities, such as training, education, volunteering and / or employment, as part of their recovery. To seek referral clients must talk with their CMHT.

Overview

On referral to either pathway, clients will be checked for eligibility, screened and then invited to an appointment for an assessment. The Assessment will focus on understanding the needs, interests of clients and then to co-produce goals/plans. This stage will then be followed up by ongoing support encouraging engagement, achieving positive outcomes and/or to build independence and support networks in the Community.
