  1. Croydon CAMHS Mental Health Support Team

    The Croydon CAMHS Mental Health Support Team (MHST) offers early intervention support to children and young people who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues. We can help with issues such as exam stress, behavioural difficulties, low mood, anxiety, and friendship problems. We can also help those with more severe needs to access the right support.

    Our team of Education Wellbeing Practitioners offer guided self-help over several sessions for anxiety, low-mood, or challenging behaviour. This can be face to face, telephone or online.

    We see children, young people, and parents in educational settings, as well as offering assessment and screening in order to make specialist referrals to other services and agencies. These can include screening for Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), or more severe problems.

    We also offer training for teaching staff on a variety of topics and can run small groups, and workshops both live and recorded.

    We run an Emotional Wellbeing Helpline for children, young people or parents needing support. Our helpline is also open to school staff who would like to make enquiries or talk about a pupil they are concerned about.

  2. Croydon Flow Team

    The Croydon Flow team works within the borough of Croydon to manage and support clinical decisions around service users movements through the healthcare service.

    We work closely with other services both inside and outside of South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust to ensure the best care outcome is achieved for every service user.

    We work closely with the South London And Maudsley (SLAM) bed management structure and across teams to effectively manage and support services users' safe discharge from our in-patient settings in a timely manner.

    The team provides Home Treatment Assessment, suitable follow up no later than 48 hours after discharge from in-patient wards and support for in-patient and community teams which encourages; right care, at the right time, at the right place, considering the most least restrictive options at all times.

    The team consists of; Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Senior discharge coordinators Home treatment assessors, HAWK advisors, and a Community Clinical Service Lead who works proactively with care coordinators and community team leaders for swift support.

  3. Croydon Integrated Psychological Therapy Service (CIPTS)

    CIPTS is a comprehensive established team of psychologists and psychotherapists delivering a range of talking therapies including Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET).

    CIPTS provides psychological assessment and treatment for adults mostly aged between 18-65 years who present with complex mental health difficulties that require a secondary care level of treatment. We support people who live in the London Borough of Croydon. CIPTS is an equivalent service to the Integrated Psychological Therapy teams (IPTT) in Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark.

    We receive referrals from the Croydon Assessment & Liaison Team, the Croydon Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Service (IAPT) and the Croydon Treatment Team. GP referrals for secondary care psychological treatment come via the IAPT team and Assessment & Liaison Team. We work closely with other teams, providing consultation and teaching.

  4. Croydon Mental Health in Learning Disabilities Service

    Our Mental Health in Learning Disabilities (Croydon) is a specialist, community-based service based at Bethlem Royal Hospital. We provide outpatient and community assessment, inpatient liaison, advice and treatment for people, aged over 18, who have learning disabilities together with mental health problems. We provide care for people who live in the London Borough of Croydon.

    We are psychiatrists employed by SLaM. We are part of the Behavioural and Developmental clinical academic group. We work locally as part of the Croydon Joint Community Learning Disabilities Team (JCDLT) which includes multidisciplinary health and social care professionals not employed by SLaM.

    We provide mental health assessments and advice on services and treatment options to help people with learning disabilities and mental health problems maintain their health and independence.

  5. Croydon Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

    Croydon Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 10 bedded unit that provides high quality care for men aged 18-65, who have severe and ongoing mental health problems. We also provide short-stay intensive assessment and treatment for people with acute mental illness with distressing symptoms who have been referred from other inpatient services. Our team is comprised of multi-professional staff including nurses, doctors, occupational therapist, psychologist, pharmacist etc.

    We provide assessment, treatment and intensive nursing care. We work closely with other services both inside and outside of South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust to ensure the best care outcome is achieved for every service user.

    We care for people who live in the London Borough of Croydon.

  6. Croydon Service User Network (SUN)

    What is SUN?

    Croydon Service User Network (SUN) is a community-based support group for adults aimed at helping people cope with distressing thoughts and feelings in a safe way. SUN aims to empower people to problem solve their current struggles whether emotional, relational, social, or practical.

    Who can join SUN?

    You can refer yourself to Croydon SUN Project if you are an adult 18-65 years old registered with a Croydon GP. We welcome people from all sorts of backgrounds to learn from each other’s experiences.

    How does the group work?

    We offer three groups a week; two in the community and one group a week online via Microsoft Teams. Each group runs for two-and-a-half hours with two breaks.

    You can attend Croydon SUN groups as often as you wish. SUN groups offer peer support and members both offer, and receive, support. Two mental health professionals facilitate the group.

    All of the support provided by Croydon SUN Project happens within the groups themselves in a confidential and safe space. New members are helped to complete a Crisis and Support Plan (CASP) in their first group. A CASP sets out the steps you take to cope with stress and any challenges in life, so that the group knows how best to support you in times of crisis.

  7. Croydon, Lambeth and Lewisham Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Service

    The Croydon, Lambeth and Lewisham Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Service is also known as the 3 borough service. This service launched in August 2020, and is a local, specialist outpatient service for adults registered with a GP in Croydon, Lambeth and Lewisham. Referrals can be made by GPs or NHS secondary mental health teams.

    The team offers diagnostic assessment for adults who have suspected Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Initiation and titration of ADHD medication and annual reviews for ADHD are also offered. Following a positive diagnosis from the service (ADHD and/or ASD), patients may be offered some brief post-diagnostic psychological support.

    13 October - ADHD medication supply disruptions: Advice for General Practitioners

    On Friday 27th September 2023 the Department of Health and Social Care issued a National Patient Safety Alert regarding supply disruptions with many of the medication prescribed for ADHD (Equasym XL, Xaggatin XL, Concerta XL, Xenidate XL, Lisdexamfetamine, Guanfacine). This disruption has been attributed to a combination of manufacturing issues and increased global demand. Please see the 'more info' tab below for further information.

  8. Dementia Clinical Nurse Specialists (Lewisham)

     

    Who are we? We are a nurse led service of two Dementia Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) provided by South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

    We aim to:
    Improve the experience and quality of life of people living with dementia and their carers to have better integrated and coordinated care after their diagnosis.

    Improve access to appropriate care and support at the appropriate time.

    Reducing premature placements of people with dementia into residential and nursing care homes.

    Improving End of Life Care support such as Advance Care Planning opportunities.

    Who can use the service?
    We work with anyone aged 18 or over, with a confirmed diagnosis of dementia. They must live at home at the point of referral and be registered with a Lewisham GP. You can access our service through your GP, Social Care and other professionals (or you can self-refer).

    What happens at the service?
    We arrange to see the person with dementia, and anyone offering support, about how the memory issues are affecting their life. This is likely to be at home but we can see you in other places if you wish.

    What support can the Dementia Clinical Nurse Specialists offer?

     

    • Offer a holistic review of the person with dementia and their carers' needs.
    • Offer advice about management of physical, psychological social and spiritual issues that may affect people living with dementia.
    • Advise on Crisis management and interventions to prevent this.
    • Help with care planning and consider Advance Care Planning if you wish to, with you and your carers.
    • Refer you on to other teams like the dementia advisors or Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), if necessary.

    CNS review to inform the Annual Dementia review in Primary Care.

  9. Drug and Alcohol Service (Lambeth)

    The Drugs and Alcohol Consortium (Lambeth) is a consortium led by the Trust in partnership with We are With You (formerly Addaction), Humankind and Phoenix Futures.

    We provide assessment, treatment and advice for people, aged over 18, who have substance misuse (drugs and/or alcohol) related problems. We care for people who live in the London Borough of Lambeth.

    We provide a Tier 2 addictions assessment and brief intervention clinic, and a Tier 3 addictions assessment and treatment service.

    Tier 2 services provide drug-related information, advice, assessment, referrals, interventions (including needle exchange) and aftercare.

    Tier 3 services provide specialised drug assessments, treatment, care and referrals, delivered in the community or on hospital sites. They provide people with a care plan and a key worker. They are often delivered alongside Tier 2 services, in the same premises and by the same staff.

  10. Drug Intervention Programme and Drug Rehabilitation Requirement Service (Bexley)

    The Bexley Drug Interventions Programme (DIP) Service is part of the Addiction service based at Erith Health Centre. We provide specialist assessment, treatment and care for people, aged over 18, who misuse drugs.

    We care for people who live in the London Borough of Bexley.

    We provide specialist assessment, treatment and care for people, aged over 18, who are referred through the courts on a DRR Order.

    A DRR service provides offenders with fast access to drug treatment programmes where their criminal behaviour is associated with drug misuse. The aim of a DDR is to reduce drug-related offending.

    We care for people who live in the London Borough of Bexley, and for people in the borough who are homeless, of no fixed abode, and claiming social care benefits.

    Our treatment programmes include rehabilitation, counselling and prescribing alternatives to drugs. We also provide advice and support on housing, relationships, employment and education.

    We work with other teams in health and social care to help people to maintain their health and their independence.

  11. Early Intervention Lambeth

    The Lambeth Early Onset (LEO) Community Team is a service that supports people aged 18-65 who are experiencing a First Episode of Psychosis. We provide care for people who live in the London Borough of Lambeth.

    We offer psychological, medical and social support to those experiencing psychosis for the first time.

    We work together with people who use our service, as well as other organisations, to help them recover and work towards their goals.

  12. Early Intervention Service (Croydon)

    Our service provides intensive community-based early intervention, care and support for people, aged 18-65, or aged over 65 if they have been treated by the Croydon Mental Health Service. R&R is for people with severe and long-term mental illness who live in the London Borough of Croydon in a 24 hour funded placement such as Supported Housing, Supported Living, Residential Care Home or Nursing Home.

    Our team includes people from a range of health and social care professions. We help people to maintain their health and their move towards greater independence in their communities.

  13. Eating Disorders Daycare Service (Maudsley Hospital)

    We treat a range of eating disorders alongside co-morbidities from first presentation to severe and intractable, including those patients who are diagnosed late in the development of the condition. We offer assessment, treatment and management of people with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and mixed eating disorder symptoms (eating disorder not otherwise specified / other specified feeding or eating disorder) in an outpatient and day care service providing a range of evidence-based care packages tailored to the needs of patients and their carers. We are able to send self-help resources to individuals with binge eating disorder and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder.

    We identify the most appropriate treatment pathway for the patient and provide advice/treatment in the most appropriate setting. At all times the service will effectively and appropriately liaise with families or carers and other outside agencies. The service will provide psychological, emotional, social and physical interventions to the client group.

    Our unit is internationally renowned for its research and is at the forefront of treatment development, having generated much of the evidence underpinning contemporary eating disorder treatments.
