CAMHS Nursing Academy shortlisted in Nursing Times Awards 2022

South London and Maudsley's Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Nursing Academy has been shortlisted for a Nursing Times Award 2022 in the category of Children’s Services.

The Nursing Times Awards 2022 bring together the nursing community to share talent in the profession and recognise those who make nursing innovative, patient-focused and inclusive.

The CAMHS Nursing Academy began as a Quality Improvement (QI) initiative to address the training and development needs of CAMHS nurses at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. Its purpose is to provide a forum for all CAMHS nurses to explore ideas and grow their skills throughout their career, and to share this knowledge with others.

It is a virtual space for students and nursing leads to come together to support one another. It also exists to highlight and promote the opportunities available within a nursing career for research and service development.

Julie Kirby, Head of Nursing for CAMHS, said: “I’m delighted the CAMHS Nursing Academy has been shortlisted for a Nursing Times Award and would like to thank everyone who has been part of it for making it possible.

“It is well evidenced that nurses who feel valued, confident and content at work perform better and are able to provide a better experience for people who use our services. We hope the Nursing Academy will make a difference to our skilled nurses who strive every day to provide the best possible care for children, young people and their families.”
