Industrial action In February - What you need to know

Junior Doctors in England will be taking industrial action from 7am on Saturday 24 February to 11.59pm on Wednesday 28 February.

We are working hard to make sure we can continue the safe delivery of our clinical services on the strike days.

Your appointments

Our teams will contact you directly if we need to re-schedule your appointment and will do this as quickly as possible. If you have an appointment and have not been contacted, please assume this is going ahead and attend your appointment.

If we have not contacted you, please attend your appointment as planned. The NHS will contact you if your appointment needs to be rescheduled due to strike action.

On our wards

A lot of planning and preparation has been out in place over recent weeks to ensure we can continue to deliver safe, effective and high-quality care.

However, there may be some changes that you will see on the wards and in our services during this time.

While we have taken steps to ensure there is senior medical cover for all our wards and services, the reduction in the number of doctors available means we will need to prioritise urgent and emergency care, so some of our services, including our wards, may not run exactly in the way you may have come to expect and there may be some changes.

For example, ward rounds could be shorter, and some routine reviews postponed until the following week.

Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to ensure the smooth running of our services and your ward team will update you on any changes.

If you have any concerns  or questions please do talk to the ward manager

Getting help

Regardless of any strike action taking place, it is really important that patients who need urgent mental health care continue to come forward as normal. If you need urgent help for your mental health, but it's not an emergency:

  • Call 0800 731 2864 and choose option 1 to speak to our local mental health crisis line. We can connect you to local mental health services, including our crisis support teams and peer support services.
  • Call 111 or get help from NHS 111 online

Help is available if you, or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis. You can find more information on support available here
