Honorary cognitive analytic therapy placements
We welcome applications for a clinical cognitive analytic therapy (CAT) placement from people who wish to gain experience of working within the CAT model. The placement will be an honorary contract and applicants must be external to the trust.
CAT is a time-limited, semi-structured, relational therapy of 16 to 24 sessions, accessible to people with a wide range of mental health difficulties.
The role requires a commitment of half a day a week to attend a CAT supervision group (normally an hour and a half) and see two patients under supervision. Additional time will be required for clinical administration and reading around the CAT model. The placement would normally be for a minimum of nine months to a year.
Applications are welcomed from people with a core profession within the NHS, or other helping professions, and with experience of working individually with people in a helping setting. Experience of mental health issues and personal therapy is also helpful. People who do not fulfil these criteria may still be eligible if equivalent experience can be demonstrated. Please enquire further if this is the case.
To apply please email the borough leads in the CAT services, attaching a covering letter, a CV and details of two people willing to be contacted for a reference. There will also be an interview.
