Our experts

Susan is a principal psychotherapist working in the Self-Harm Service. She has worked in the NHS for over 20 years, the last 10 of which has been as a consultant psychologist. Susan is an associate fellow of the British Psychological Society and a member of the British Psychoanalytic Council and trained in Psychotherapy at the Tavistock. She has extensive experience of working in community psychiatry, A&E liaison and acute psychological services for people with severe mental illness, including personality disorders and psychosis. Susan is particularly interested in psychoanalytic treatments for patients with early trauma, severe depressive illness and the management of patients at risk of serious self-harm.  Her current research interest is in the integration of psychotherapy research and clinical practice in the study of self-harm
