Background

Dr Elaine Chung is a Locum Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with the Centre for Interventional Paediatric Psychopharmacology and Rare Diseases, working with children and young people who have not responded to previous psychopharmacological interventions, or who are extremely sensitive to side effects, often in the context of complex neurodevelopmental profiles and co-existing anxiety, mood disorders and psychosis, and their families. She is Vice Chair of the London and South East Branch Committee of the Association of Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH).

She studied medicine at Peterhouse, Cambridge University, and St. Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospitals’ Medical School. She trained as a psychiatrist at St George’s, completing her higher training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Maudsley.

She has been a consultant since 2008, and has previously worked at the Royal Free Hospital in the paediatric liaison, neurodevelopmental, regional eating disorders and general CAMHS; with the National Specialist CAMHS Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Service, and Paediatric Liaison Service at the Maudsley, and the Great Ormond Street Hospital Feeding and Eating Disorders Service.
