Area of expertise

Dr Grice’s current work is focused on families and carers of those with those psychosis, particularly in improving the practical application of the evidence-base, and disseminating to front-line staff in order that as many people as possible can benefit from improved health outcomes within our NHS services.

Background

Dr Sarah-Jane Grice is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with the Psychological Interventions Clinic for Outpatients with Psychosis (PICuP) where she see’s clients and their families for Family Intervention (FIp). She provides supervision, management, and short/long-course training for mental health professionals, including psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses and social workers within the South London and Maudsley and externally to multiple NHS Trusts. She also helps advise on setting up, managing and leading Family Intervention services, particularly within Early Intervention for psychosis. In addition, Dr Grice is Lead Clinical Tutor for the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma in CBT Informed and Carer Supportive Practice in Psychosis, teaching and supervising front-line staff and future NHS leaders from around the UK in the evidence-based practice of Family Intervention.

Dr Grice completed her clinical doctorate (DClinPsy) at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London. She also holds a PhD from University College London, and completed post-doctoral research work in the Universities of London (Birkbeck) and Cambridge. Prior to working for the PICuP clinic, Dr Grice worked in Southwark Community Promoting Recovery Services with people with psychosis and other severe mental health difficulties. She has also worked in assertive outreach for those with psychosis.
