  1. Lewisham Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Service

    The Lewisham MHLD service provides community-based psychiatric and psychological assessment, advice and treatment for people, aged over 18, who live in the London Borough of Lewisham. We care for adults with mental health problems and learning disabilities who may have emotional, behavioural, and social, communication or physical difficulties.

    We provide care for people with mental health problems and complex needs including behaviours that challenge.

    We are a multi professional team including psychologists, behavioural support specialists, nurses and psychiatrists. We work with other health and social care teams as part of the Mental Health Learning Disability Service (MHLD) Neurodevelopment Division.

    We provide mental health assessments, therapy and advice on services and treatment options to help people with learning disabilities maintain their health and independence.

    An integral part of the Mental Health-Learning Disabilities services provided by the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is the Estia Centre. The Estia Centre is a training, research and development resource that specialises in the mental health needs of adults with learning disabilities. The Estia Centre aims to support the development of a competent workforce, from support staff to experienced managers and from a variety of services. We hope to achieve this by offering a high quality portfolio of training opportunities, including workshops, conferences, training publications, journals and good practice guidance. The Centre is also part of the Institute of Psychiatry, where we aim to improve the care of adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs through our research initiatives that develop evidence-based practice

  2. Lewisham Older Adults Consultation and Liaison Service

    We provide psychiatric assessment and review for patients aged 65 and over (not active to working age mental health care services) who have been admitted to Lewisham Hospital. We work jointly with our general liaison psychiatry colleagues providing mental health input to older patients presenting to Emergency Department.

  3. Lewisham Primary Care Mental Health Team

    The Lewisham Primary Care Mental Health Team is a service providing care and treatment for service users with severe or complex mental health difficulties. This includes, but is not limited to psychotic illnesses, mood and personality disorders, and other co-morbid disorders.

    We provide a broad range of medical, psychological, and social treatments and intervention and work closely with acute and crisis services and mental health services in primary care to ensure that service users receive the right care at the right time. Our service is provided in alliance with Bromley Lewisham and Greenwich MIND, Lewisham Adult Social Care, One Health Lewisham, and Lewisham Clinical Commissioning Group.

    We are a multidisciplinary service with a range of professionals, including social workers, nurses, doctors, psychologists, occupational therapists, and specialist workers, providing employment support, benefits advice, and social inclusion.

  4. Lewisham Primary Care Mental Health Team Neighbourhood 1

    Our service is an integrated provision provided in partnership with Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich MIND. Our joined up approach enables seamless support and interventions for Lewisham service users. Our Mental Health Advisors and Peer Support Workers possess expertise and experience in social prescribing and care navigation.

    Primary Care Mental Health Teams (PCMHT) support service users who are referred in conjunction with their GP. We use the same electronic note system to improve information sharing and communication.

    PCMHTs are the 'front door' service, and you may be 'stepped up' into secondary care following assessment if there is no need for further assessment. PCMHTs also provide care to those who are in transition from secondary care mental health services ensuring people receive the right care at the right time.

  5. Lewisham Psychiatric Liaison Team

    The Lewisham Psychiatric Liaison team is for people aged 18-65. The service provides a comprehensive assessment and liaison service to people who are experiencing mental health difficulties who attend Lewisham University Hospital's (UHL) emergency department and who are admitted to the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU).

    It provide assessment and advice on treatment of people who have been admitted to the medical, surgical and obstetric wards at UHL who are experiencing mental health difficulties.

    The liaison team also provide assessments to people who present with co-morbid presentations of either substance misuse or physical issues, and mental health difficulties in the emergency department and wards with severe mental illness.
