Almost 30 staff members recognised in Chief Nursing Officer Healthcare Support Excellence Awards | Our blog

The dedication and efforts of our Healthcare Support Workers was recently recognised with 27 individuals winning the Chief Nursing Officer Healthcare Support Worker (CNO HCSW) Excellence Awards.  

Coordinated in our Trust by Olisa Skyers, Workforce Development and Care Certificate Facilitator, these awards recognise the huge contributions of our healthcare support workers, celebrating the role they play in delivering compassionate care and demonstrating the NHS values in their everyday roles.  

Olisa said: “This is a brilliant moment to recognise and celebrate our healthcare support workers across the Trust. You inspire us every day by making a real difference to the lives of our patients. Thank you for everything you do!”  

The ceremony was held during the Nursing Education Team’s Care Certificate Celebration Day. The atmosphere was hugely celebratory with many colleagues and peers congratulating the award winners and honouring their achievements.  

 Karen Bonner, Chief Nursing Officer for the London region, said: “Days like today are important to celebrate our support workers who are invaluable colleagues. The Chief Nursing Officer for England Awards are important to shine the light on the excellent work that our support workers do out there every single day. I'm so proud to be here today to present awards to our winners and celebrate with everyone!” 

 Since its inception, staff at South London and Maudsley have won a remarkable 69 out of 191 the CNO HCSW awards, highlighting the incredible work we do and how much we value the work of our colleagues. Vanessa Smith, Chief Nurse at South London and Maudsley noted that this is a “huge testimony to the work you all do.”
