How to find us
The Pears Maudsley Centre for Children and Young People is part of the Maudsley Hospital campus in Denmark Hill. Our Child and Adolescent Mental Health outpatient services are based in this building, as well as the Maudsley and Bethlem Hospital School.
The building is also home to the King’s Maudsley Partnership for Children and Young People, a unique collaboration between the Trust’s specialist clinicians and leading academics at King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience – supported by Maudsley Charity – focused on improving the lives of children and young people living with mental health conditions and neurodiversity.
Designed with young people, the Pears Maudsley Centre is a vibrant and welcoming space cleverly uses light, outdoor space, artwork and soft furnishings to help ease anxiety.
Visiting by car
From central London: follow the A215 from the Elephant and Castle. The hospital is located on the left-hand side of Denmark Hill.
Congestion charge: Maudsley Hospital is not in the London congestion charge zone however is in the Ultra Low Emission zone.
Parking: At present the Trust does not charge for visitor and patient parking, however because we use an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system, all vehicles parking on the site must be registered with the Trusts Estates Parking Team. Please contact your clinical team who be able to request a temporary parking permit for you or your escort.
Please note that there is limited parking for visitors at the site and we cannot guarantee to provide a parking space. Any vehicles parking on site without Trust authorisation could be subject to a fine or parking notice.
Specific Information for the Pears Maudsley Centre (PMC)
There is a drop off bay facility at the rear of the PMC building however this is only for the use of patients with mobility issues. The entrance is via the gate to the ORTUS Centre on Grove Lane which is controlled by an intercom system. Your vehicle must be registered with the Trust so please contact your clinical team in advance and they will be able to arrange access.
There are two additional drop-off bays available in the ORTUS Centre car park which can be used for carers dropping off patients. Please note that once the patient and escort have been dropped off the vehicle must exit the site along Memory Lane and onto De Crespigny Park and other parking locations found.
Please note that vehicles using the drop off bays are only allowed to remain parked in these bays for 15 minutes.

By rail: The nearest station is Denmark Hill (Zone 2). From Central London - Blackfriars, Farringdon, St Pancras and Victoria. There are direct connections to Bromley, Orpington, Bexleyheath and Sevenoaks as well as services to north London, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Kent.
Denmark Hill is also connected to London Overground which provides direct services to Clapham Junction and Highbury and Islington.
By underground: The nearest stations are Oval and Elephant and Castle, from there the journey has to be completed by bus or taxi.
By bus: Routes 40, 42, 68 (24 hrs) 176 (24 hrs), 185, 468, 484. Stopping at Camberwell Green (10 minutes away) are 12, 35, 36, 45, 171, 345, 436.
Route to the Pears Maudsley Centre
To get to the Pears Maudsley Centre you can follow the route from Maudsley Hospital main reception, or alternatively enter the hospital grounds on Windsor Walk and head directly to the Pears Maudsley Centre. Both routes are marked on the below map.
