Celebrating our Long Service Award winners
Over the summer, we hosted three Long Service Award Summer Party events across our hospital sites: Maudsley Hospital, Bethlem Royal Hospital and the Ladywell Unit at Lewisham Hospital.
At the events, we celebrated staff who have reached 25 years of NHS service and, in some cases, more than 40 years of dedicated service. Awards were presented by members of our Executive Leadership Team.
A total of 67 staff members were recognised and received a Long Service Award across the three events.
Shastee, recipient of a 48-year Long Service Award (pictured with Gus Heafield, Chief Financial Officer), shared:
I have worked in SLaM since 1984, but I've been in the NHS since 1978. Throughout my time here, I have valued the trust and respect between managers and staff. There is a shared commitment not only to individual success, but also to the success of the Trust as a whole.The best thing about working at SLaM is the people, the dedication of colleagues, which has remained constant. It has been a real privilege to work with such passionate and talented teams. Their dedication to improving the lives of people with mental illness is truly inspiring. I feel fortunate to work alongside colleagues across inpatient wards, community services and management. They have made my time in the Trust both rewarding and enjoyable. I hope to continue in this role until I retire
Recognising long service is an important way of thanking colleagues for their years of dedication and commitment and celebrating the lasting impact they have made on patients, colleagues and our wider communities.
