Celebrating our newly qualified Nursing Associates
We are incredibly proud to recognise the success of our colleagues who have recently completed their nursing associate apprenticeships. These hardworking individuals have spent two years juggling working across South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, taking on various placements and studying.
We would like to celebrate these graduates for their passion and dedication. Despite the challenges of balancing various responsibilities and having placements across various teams both in South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and at Kings College Hospital, all of the nursing associate apprentices have excelled. Through the process of the course, they have gained a wide range of skills and knowledge and have developed in confidence. They will now go on to be competent and safe practitioners that deliver invaluable care to our patients.
Katie Hopkins, Clinical Practice Educator has helped to guide colleagues during the apprenticeship. She said:
“It is magical to hear students speak about the patients they care for with dignity and care. I am truly impressed and proud to see the passion they have. It has been fantastic to watch them develop their skills.”
Hear from recent Nursing and Nursing Associate Apprenticeships Graduates
Helen Osayande, one of the Newly Qualified Nursing Associates shared:
"Completing my Nursing Associate training has been a challenging but rewarding journey. I am incredibly grateful to God for His grace, strength and enablement throughout the course. There were many demands balancing work, studies, placement and family life, but God's faithfulness carried me through.
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to my husband for his unwavering support, encouragement and for taking care of our children while I attended university and completed my placements. I am also deeply grateful to the management team and my colleagues on the unit (Greenvale) for your guidance and support and for believing in me throughout this journey.
Achieving my Nursing Associate qualification is a milestone I am proud of, and I look forward to continuing to provide compassionate, high-quality care while growing further in my nursing career. TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY FOR THIS ACHIEVEMENT."
Deji Sodiya completed the apprenticeship in April 2026. He said:
"Completing my Nursing Associate apprenticeship has been a fantastic milestone in the progression of my career. The journey has been both challenging and rewarding, helping me grow in confidence, knowledge, and clinical practice as a newly Registered Nursing Associate. I'm incredibly proud to celebrate this achievement alongside my colleagues, whose dedication and resilience have made this journey even more meaningful. I am especially grateful for the incredible support I have received from my colleagues in BAU and the other units across South London and Maudsley, where I had the opportunity to learn through my clinical placements. Most importantly, I would like to thank the Nurse Education Team, whose guidance, encouragement, and commitment have been invaluable in helping me successfully complete my apprenticeship. I look forward to building on everything I have learned as I continue to develop my nursing career and provide the highest standard of care to the people we serve."
Adefunke Ogbeta completed her apprenticeship in October 2025. She said:
"Completing my Nursing Associate apprenticeship is more than earning a qualification. It is the story of resilience, sacrifice, growth, and purpose. Every late night, every tear, every lesson, and every setback has led to this moment. My journey has shown me that with faith, hard work, and courage, dreams really do come true. This is not the end of my journey; it is the beginning of a greater calling to serve, care, and make a difference in the lives of others.’’
