Dr Cathy Walsh announced as new Non-Executive Director
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Cathy Walsh as a Non-Executive Director on the Trust Board.
Cathy brings almost 30 years of frontline clinical experience as a Consultant in Liaison Psychiatry based at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Addenbrooke's Hospital). Throughout her career, she has held a range of leadership roles in medical education and healthcare management, including as Clinical Sub-Dean at the University of Cambridge.
An experienced Board member, Cathy most recently served as Chief Medical Officer at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, where she provided professional and strategic leadership across patient safety, clinical effectiveness, innovation and research.
She has a particular interest in integrating physical and mental healthcare to improve outcomes for patients. She played a leading role in the development of the Cambridge Children's Hospital project, which aims to bring together physical and mental healthcare for children and young people, underpinned by an extensive programme of research. She is excited by the alignment between this vision and the Pears Maudsley Centre.
Cathy is also familiar with the Trust, having worked at the then Institute of Psychiatry in the 1990s.
Commenting on her appointment, she said:
I am delighted to be joining the Trust. I have been impressed by the organisation's ambition and its commitment to providing safe, effective and equitable evidence-based care for people from local communities. I look forward to supporting the Trust in strengthening its culture of continuous learning and improvement, which I believe is fundamental to delivering the best possible care for patients.
We are delighted to welcome Dr Cathy Walsh to SLaM and look forward to the knowledge, experience and insight she will bring to the Board.
