Final wards to move into New Douglas Bennett House

Next week marks a key milestone for the Trust as the final two wards will move into New Douglas Bennett House (NDBH). Luther King ward will be moving in on Tuesday 15 September, followed by Rosa Parks ward on Wednesday 16 September. 

Both wards will be welcomed into NDBH from Lambeth Hospital. Their new spaces are purpose-built to better support high-quality care and recovery, and improve our staff’s wellbeing.  

They will follow Leo unit and Eden ward which have both smoothly transitioned from Lambeth Hospital to NDBH this week and are now settling in.

Rosa Parks and Luther King wards provide care for men experiencing acute mental health problems. Acute illnesses start quickly and can have distressing symptoms. The wards provide inpatient psychiatric assessment, treatment and care to help reduce the risk of harm to self and others. Staff in both wards will be supporting their service users through these moves. 

Thank you to all staff from right across the Trust who are supporting these moves. The wider programme of scheduled moves for wards and services remains on track and will continue throughout September.
