Helen Hayes MP Visit

The Trust welcomed Helen Hayes MP to learn more about our work and our upcoming strategy refresh.

Ms Hayes, the MP for Dulwich and West Norwood and the Chair of the House of Commons Education Select Committee, has visited the Trust before including a tour of our Pears Maudsley Centre for Children and Young People.

During the visit she was given an update on the Trust’s progress and challenges and insight into the upcoming strategy refresh.

Ms Hayes was also given a tour of the new Low Intensity Area the Trust has set up with our partners at King’s College Hospital in their Emergency Department.

Anna Palmer, Clinical Service Lead Mental Health Liaison Services, Southwark, showed Ms Hayes around the area that creates a calmer environment for those with mental health needs requiring emergency department care. Helen Hayes MP said:

‘It was really encouraging to see the new Low Intensity Area within the King’s College Hospital Emergency Department, which provides a much more suitable environment for patients with mental health needs; alongside new investment to deliver the Pears Maudsley Centre which will provide a much better environment for children and young people.’

Kate Lillywhite, the Trust’s Chief Strategy Officer, said:  “We were really pleased to welcome Helen who has been a great champion for those with mental health needs and to share with her some of latest news and plans for the future through our strategy refresh.”
