Honouring our Armed Forces Community this Remembrance Day: Cecilia’s reflections

Every year on 11 November, we mark Remembrance Day to honour and remember the sacrifices of the Armed Forces Community in the line of duty.

As a Trust, we are committed to caring for the Armed Forces Community and have attained our Veterans Accreditation in 2023, which recognises our workplace as an Armed Forces friendly employer.

From now until Remembrance Day, we will be sharing the reflections on what remembrance means to our staff who are members of the Armed Forces Community. This includes veterans and families.

Our first reflection comes from Cecilia Jakobsson, Trainee Clinical Psychologist and wife of a member of the Armed Forces.

She said: “As a spouse of a member of the Armed Forces, I am proud of my husband’s commitment and sacrifice to serving his country. At times, we have long periods of separation with uncertainty about when we will be reunited, which can be challenging.

On Remembrance Day, military families across the country stand alongside those serving to remember not only the fallen but also those who make small sacrifices for their country every day, be it at home or on the frontline.”
