National Apprenticeship Week

Welcome to National Apprenticeship Week 2024!

At South London and Maudsley, we are thrilled to participate in this year's National Apprenticeship Week, a week-long celebration dedicated to showcasing the impact of apprenticeships on local communities, businesses, and the broader economy. From Monday, 5th February 2024, to Sunday, 11th February, join us as we explore the theme of 'Skills for Life' and understand how apprenticeships contribute to the development and growth of individuals pursuing their chosen careers.

With a workforce of over 6000 dedicated employees, South London and Maudsley have been at the forefront of apprenticeship programmes for more than 6 years. Currently, we proudly maintain a thriving apprenticeship programmes with 430 employees actively engaged, and 179 have successfully completed their apprenticeships, demonstrating the effectiveness of our commitment to career development. We offer several apprenticeship programmes including Pharmacy, Business and Administration, Nursing Associate, Psychology Well Being Practitioner, Occupational Therapy and Clinical Associate in Psychology.

During our National Apprenticeship Week celebration, we'll spotlight our exceptional apprentices at South London and Maudsley, allowing them to share their inspiring journeys and highlight the pivotal role our apprenticeship programmes played in shaping their careers.

Our Chief People Officer, Sue Smith, recognises the crucial role apprenticeships play in shaping the Trusts’ future workforce. Sue states, “Apprenticeships are so important in shaping our workforce needs and provides apprentices with the unique opportunity to learn new skills, behaviours and knowledge as well as bringing in fresh new ideas to support and respond to our service needs.

A dynamic and diverse community of apprentices is a central focus in the Trusts’ workforce strategy. We take great pride in the achievements of our apprentices in South London and Maudsley and eagerly anticipate the significant contributions that they will continue to make whilst completing their apprenticeship with the Trust.”

As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we invite you to join us in recognising the value, benefit, and opportunity that apprenticeships bring.
