National Psychosis Unit named Team of the Month for September 2026

Last month, we proudly recognised Fitzmary 2, National Psychosis Unit (NPU) as our Team of the Month for September 2026. The team was presented with the award by Shorayi Nyamupanda, Service Director for PMOA, in recognition of the outstanding care and support they provide to people using the service.

The NPU provides a national specialist outpatient assessment, treatment and rehabilitation service for adults aged 18 and over living with complex psychosis, including schizoaffective disorder. The multidisciplinary team includes doctors, nurses, pharmacists and psychologists who work together to deliver highly specialised care.

As a national treatment centre for people with schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, the NPU accepts referrals from across the UK. The service is a tertiary referral centre, meaning patients are referred by specialist mental health teams when they need expert assessment, treatment or rehabilitation that is not available through local or regional services.

The team was selected as September's winner following exceptional feedback from a service user. In their message, the service user highlighted several members of staff and described the significant contribution they had made to their care, recovery and discharge. This recognition reflects the team's commitment to providing person-centred care, and the impact they have on the lives of the people they support.
