Every year, Carers Week offers us a vital opportunity to shine a light on the extraordinary dedication of unpaid carers - those who support family members, friends, partners, or neighbours living with illness, disability, or mental health challenges. At South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, we are proud to join the national campaign running from 9 to 15 June 2025, recognising the invaluable contributions carers make to our communities and the lives of those they care for. 

Today is World Environment Day, the theme for 2025 being “Beat Plastic Pollution” which is calling for collective action to tackle plastic waste.

Keri German shares her experiences of taking part in a wide range of research studies at South London and Maudsley, and the importance of diverse people getting involved to make sure the results are more useful for everyone.

Today is World No Tobacco Day, with this year’s theme - “Unmasking the Appeal” - focused on exposing the calculated tactics used by the tobacco industry to make their products attractive and to encourage early uptake of smoking.
