Our partner, South East London (SEL) Mind, has successfully secured a new contract to continue delivering crucial joined-up primary care and community mental health services in Lewisham, alongside the work we are doing to improve communities.

This new agreement means SEL Mind will keep providing essential support to the community. It will build on the successful Culturally Diverse Communities project that SEL Mind led over the last three years.

Looking ahead, SEL Mind is making an investment in community connection and will be recruiting a Peer Support and Activities Co-ordinator. The focus of this role will be developing new activities programme which will launch in early 2026. This will improve the recovery and wellbeing options available to Lewisham residents.

Sue Boland, Head of Services, Lewisham at South East London Mind said: “The renewed SEL Mind contract is a hopeful step forward for Lewisham. We also look forward to co-ordinating the Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Providers Forum, bringing the thirteen grass roots organisations and other local partners together to collaborate, share learning and build stronger connections across the sector.”

Earlier this year, we shared that 13 grassroots community groups in Lewisham have received funding as part of the ongoing community development programme.

Professor Derek Tracy, Chief Medical Officer for the Trust said: “We know local communities have great insight, great energy and great ideas on how to help support and heal those living in their neighbourhoods so to be able to work with them in such a practical way is a real change.”
