Capital Modernisation Programme update: remedial works and progress

We are in the final phase of our ambitious £186m modernisation programme, a significant milestone in the ongoing effort to improve both care and research facilities across the Trust. This programme will deliver two new, purpose-built, state-of-the-art buildings designed to support our staff and provide an exceptional environment for those in our care.

While the project has made tremendous strides, we have encountered some unforeseen challenges. A recent discovery of water-related issues in both new buildings has caused some delays. As a result, the planned move-in date for our teams at New Douglas Bennett House has been postponed until winter. Although this delay is disappointing, it is essential that these new facilities are fully ready to support our staff and service users. Ensuring that the buildings are fully operational will allow us to provide a modern, top-quality environment for both care and research. We are grateful for the understanding and patience shown by colleagues and service users as these remedial works are completed.

On a positive note, the project continues to progress, and we are pleased to report that some of our colleagues have already moved into newly refurbished spaces within the Trust. These upgraded areas are already helping to enhance working conditions and support our teams in delivering excellent care.

Furthermore, we are excited to announce the purchase of cutting-edge equipment that will enable our staff to conduct groundbreaking research alongside providing first-class care. This equipment is a key part of our vision to integrate advanced technology with clinical excellence.

There is also significant news regarding the Lambeth Hospital site. After many years of serving the community, the site is being marketed for redevelopment. The sale of Lambeth Hospital presents an exciting opportunity to bring new investment into the area, marking a new chapter for both the hospital and surrounding Lambeth communities.

Proceeds from the sale will be reinvested into our hospital and community services, helping us continue to improve and expand the vital care we offer to the people we serve.

We are committed to delivering these world-class facilities and services and remain grateful for your ongoing support as we move forward with these exciting developments.
