Lishman Ward moves to New Douglas Bennett House
Earlier this week, Lishman Ward moved from Lambeth Hospital to its new space at New Douglas Bennett House, marking half of the highly anticipated moves now complete.
Just two days after moving in, staff and patients share that they feel settled and comfortable in their new space, noting that the transition was a lot smoother than they expected.
Doris Harrison, Registered Mental Health Nurse said: “The patients are very happy with their rooms and while they aren’t all entirely settled yet, they’re happy with the new facilities. It’s a big change! For us, we have a lot more space to do our jobs, even just the staff room is bigger, so we aren’t all struggling to use one computer.”
Lishman Ward offers specialised inpatient care for those with brain injuries and functional neurological disorders. The spaces are set up to support service users unique needs with spaces for art therapy and functional therapy in kitchen spaces.
Alex Christofides, Building Manager for Pears Maudsley Centre and NDBH said: “We’re halfway there with four out of eight wards now moved in. The next few weeks will be busy but once everyone is here, the space will feel a lot more homely and functional.”
