About SHARP Gallery

SHARP gallery was founded in a social inclusion project within South London and Maudsley NHS Trust in 2011, converting a bland conference room into a gallery space.  It has exhibited the work of hundreds of artists, many of whom use mental health services.  The gallery has transformed the physical environment and the experiences for staff and service users, as well as giving a platform for emerging artists to exhibit.  The gallery is based in Blue Star House on Stockwell Road.
The ethos of the gallery was devised by a steering group and includes the gallery being the following:
  • a safe space
  • art focused
  • breaking the mould
  • being brave
  • connecting and bringing people together
  • enabling
The gallery is open to anyone who feels art will help with their mental health.

Project Marathon

SHARP gallery warmly welcomes you on these cold winter days, to ‘Project Marathon’, a group art show where artists have explored achievements and barriers crossed. In the winter group show, the artists have responded to the theme in very different ways.  From exploring personal struggles and their relation to creativity, to process driven work and their journey with materials and many ideas in-between!
To visit the exhibition Monday -Friday 9-5, please make an appointment by contacting  SHARPgallery@slam.nhs.uk  or come to the opening celebration on Wednesday 17th December 2-4pm.

In February we are opening 'Filling the Gaps' by Michelle Baharier. Focusing on making public transport more accessible, the exhibition celebrates people who have worked for the rights of disabled people on transport with a collection of portraits for the London Transport Museum archive.
