2022 Rewind - Achievements and moments to celebrate
As we near the end of the year we wanted to reflect on some of the amazing moments and significant achievements from the past 12-months. Thank you to all our staff and partners whose hard work and dedication has made all this possible.
2022 highlights
In January, our Bethlem and Maudsley Hospital School was rated ‘Outstanding’ for the third time. The school caters for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs who use services at Bethlem and Maudsley hospitals and will be based in the new Pears Maudsley Centre when it opens next year.
In February, we marked Children’s Mental Health Week with advice and support for parents and in March we celebrated the topping out of the new Pears Maudsley Centre. Also, in March we welcomed four refugee nurses from Jordan and Lebanon to resume their nursing careers in the NHS.
In April, we took delivery of our first electric vehicles as part of our ambition to become net neutral.
In May, we celebrated International Nurses Day with our Chief Nurse Vanessa Smith and our Director of Corporate Affairs Charlotte Hudson ringing the Chapel bell in honour of our compassionate and talented nurses.
In July, we said thank you to more than 200 colleagues who have worked with us for 25 years with two celebrations at the Maudsley and Bethlem Royal Hospitals. Their amazing dedication is what makes our trust so special.
September saw the release of Mental Health: Young Lives in Crisis on BBC One. We had been working with the team from Panorama since the beginning of the year and were proud of our staff and service users who took part to highlight the challenges we face.
Finally, in November we partnered with 999 Club to launch the Bridge Café in Deptford to support people experiencing mental health crisis in Lewisham.

Get help in a crisis
Our crisis lines are always open, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Information about where people can get help if they are distressed or experiencing a mental health crisis is available on our website. Accident and Emergency departments are under a lot of pressure and we would encourage people to call our crisis line first unless they have a physical health emergency. Get help now
