Finding Support with the Southwark Service User Network (SUN Project)

Feeling overwhelmed by emotional or relationship difficulties? If  you’re an adult living in Southwark or registered with a Southwark GP, the Southwark Service User Network (SUN Project ) might be able to support you. SUN offers a unique peer support system designed to help you navigate these challenges in a safe and supportive environment.

What Is the SUN Project?

The Southwark Service User Network (SUN) is a community-based support service tailored for adults facing significant emotional issues. Whether you’re dealing with stress, impulsivity, or a crisis, SUN provides a space where you can connect with others who understand what you’re going through. The goal is to empower you to address your challenges through mutual support and shared experiences.

SUN is open to all adults who:

  • Live in Southwark, or

  • Are registered with a Southwark GP

Our groups are inclusive and welcoming to people from all walks of life . Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, relationship problems, or difficult feelings, you’ll find a supportive community ready to listen and help.

How Do the Groups Work?

SUN groups are designed to be flexible and accommodating. Here’s how they operate :

  • Duration and Frequency : Each session lasts two-and-a-half hours, with breaks. You can attend as often or as infrequently as you like, depending on your personal situation.

  • Session Format :

    • Check-In: Start by sharing your current feelings and what support you need from the group. You can also offer support to others in the group.

    • Main Discussion: The group discusses various topics based on what was shared during check-in. Discussions focus on problem-solving, risk management, and exploring new coping strategies.

    • Check-Out: Before the session ends, confirm that you’re safe and receive guidance on any additional support you might need.

Facilitated by two health professionals, these groups ensure that all discussions take place in a confidential and safe space. New members also work with the group to create a Crisis and Support Plan (CASP), which outlines personali s ed strategies for managing stress and cris i s.

Why People Join SUN

Here are some reasons why SUN members find the service valuable:
