SLaM Recovery College launches autumn/winter 2025 programme

South London and Maudsley (SLaM) NHS Foundation Trust’s Recovery College has released its Autumn/Winter 2025 timetable - and it’s packed with new ways to learn, connect, and take steps towards recovery.

For over a decade, the College has played a vital role in SLaM’s ambition to go beyond treatment - offering free, co-produced courses that empower people to live well. From understanding mental health conditions to boosting creativity, confidence and community connection, the College brings to life an approach that looks beyond illness and supports recovery in the community.

Courses run across Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham, and Croydon, and anyone with a connection to the Trust can join - from people currently using our services to those recently discharged, their carers, family and friends. Staff, students on placement, volunteers, peer supporters and involvement register members are also welcome.

The timetable can be downloaded here. More detailed course descriptions can be found here.

Highlights from this term’s programme

This season’s diverse timetable offers something for everyone. A few examples include:

  • Fear of Abandonment – exploring causes, coping strategies, and hope for healthier relationships.
  • Getting Curious About Nature for Our Wellbeing – connecting with birds, trees, and fungi as powerful allies for recovery.
  • Comedy School Courses – from Improvisation to Illusionary Mime, using performance to build confidence and creativity.
  • Recovering Our Purpose – rediscovering direction and meaning in life.
  • Stoptober Series – expert-led sessions on quitting smoking, including the facts on vaping.
  • Understanding and Managing Anxiety, Depression and Bipolar Disorder – practical knowledge and self-care strategies.
  • Writing for Self-Expression with The Royal Literary Fund – using words as a tool for resilience and wellbeing.

With over 40 courses on offer, the timetable also includes workshops on sleep, resilience, eating well, stigma, medication, social confidence, and more.

A community of recovery

More than a programme of courses, the College is a place to connect, share and recover together. Every course is co-produced by people with lived experience and professionals, reflecting the Trust’s commitment to tackling inequalities, supporting personalised recovery, and empowering people to lead fulfilling lives.
