Aims

  • For participants to understand the role of leadership to ensure that quality care and support is provided effectively and safely.
  • To enable participants to gain knowledge of key legal and ethical issues that are relevant to leading teams that support people with a learning disability and to be able to integrate these into their daily practice.

  • For senior support staff, team leaders and managers to mentor and supervise with others.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand leadership styles, roles and responsibilities for developing their team.
  • Review the Leadership Qualities Frameworks and how this can be used to develop ourselves and our teams.
  • Understand and be able to meet CQC requirements for well led services.
  • Be able to recognise signs of care erosion that could lead to unethical practice and a decline in the quality of care.
  • Identify areas to improve the quality of supervision.
