Strategy in Action event highlights progress on our ambition to be a partner in prevention

On Monday 18 November, the Trust welcomed members of the public and service users to our sixth bi-annual Strategy in Action event to share the progress we are making in our five ambitions, with a focus at this event on being a partner in prevention.

More than 175 people attended in person at a local event in Lambeth, and online, to hear how we are working with partners on pioneering projects and world-leading research into the prevention of mental illness. Through this work, there are greater opportunities for innovation that will have a direct impact on improving our local services, by promoting early intervention and timely access for those in our communities at higher risk of mental illness, and for supporting people living with mental health conditions to stay well.

Attendees heard about the partnership between clinicians and researchers working closely as part of the King’s Maudsley Partnership for Children and Young people to find new ways to predict, prevent and treat mental health disorders for children and young people, they also heard about the work that is taking place to support CAMHS and mental health work in schools through the introduction of Mental Health Support teams working in more than 100 schools across our boroughs, and they also heard from community members supported by the South London Listens programme which supports communities.

And after a brief break for the Annual Members’ meeting, the floor opened up for a question and answer panel session as attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions, share insights and start discussions about how we can improve our services.
