Record improvements to care and services in new NHS survey results

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust has recorded significant improvements in the CQC 2021 NHS Community Mental Health Survey.

Around 280 people who use Trust services completed the survey, which asks adults who use community mental health services questions about care and treatment, care during Covid-19, and views on health and social care workers. The survey also asks for feedback on how their planned and reviewed, crisis care, medicines, NHS therapies, support and wellbeing and overall evaluations of care.

Vanessa Smith, Chief Nurse for South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust said:

“We are pleased that the results for the 2021 Community Mental Health Survey show significant improvements, particularly in the area of organising care, services and medicines for people who use our services, and their overall experience. We know we need to work hard to continue the upward trend.

“We are grateful to our all service users across our four boroughs who have taken the time to help us with this survey. Their views are vital in helping us find out how we can improve and shape the services we provide into the future.”

The Trust’s five-year strategy, Aiming High; Changing Lives sets out the Trust’s plans to improve the ways we work together with people who use mental health services and their families and carers to achieve greater transparency, openness and achieve the outcomes important to them.

In addition to the NHS Community Mental Health Survey, the Trust also has an ongoing programme called PEDIC. This gives people who use our services and carers the opportunity to comment on the care and support they receive from the Trust at a time that suits them throughout the year. The feedback from the survey is provided to our teams on a monthly and quarterly basis. Teams can then use this data to identify areas of good practice or where improvements can be made.
