HappyMums App study: Can data collected by a mobile app be used to help learn more about mental health symptoms inpregnant women and birthing people at risk of depression in pregnancy?
Overview
Are you currently pregnant and interested in taking part in mental health research? If so, we would like to invite you to take part in our study: The HappyMums study.
We are a group of researchers at King’s College London, working with other research groups across Europe to deliver a mobile app, to be used by pregnant people, currently experiencing, or at risk of developing antenatal depression.
Eligibility criteria: You are eligible if you are 18 years and over, are currently between 13 to 28 weeks pregnant, and have experienced something that might increase your risk of developing mental health problems during your pregnancy. You may be unable to take part if you do not currently own a smartphone capable of downloading and running the HappyMums app.
What are the features of the HappyMums app?
The app contains a range of activities relevant to you and your pregnancy.
- You will have the chance to complete cognitive game-like activities, and also have space to record your thoughts, feelings, and emotions in your own ‘MOOD DIARY’
- The app gives you access to a well-being course curated by leading researchers and clinicians in the field relevant to your pregnancy, mental health, as well as your labour and delivery.
- You will be able to record factors such as your sleep, steps taken, blood pressure, and track changes over the course of your pregnancy.
