SEL Vanguard Clinical Hub Team

How our service can help you

The SEL Vanguard Clinical Hub is a dynamic multidisciplinary team working at the heart of the South East London Community Multi-system Violence Reduction Programme. We work in close partnership with local authorities, voluntary and community sector organisations, education and health services to deliver:

  • Specialist clinical consultation and case formulation
  • Direct therapeutic interventions and assessments
  • Reflective practice and workforce development
  • Collaborative care planning and risk management

We work with children, young people, and families who are affected by serious youth violence, exploitation and complex trauma. This includes those with additional mental health or neurodevelopmental needs, involvement in the criminal justice system and exposure to adverse childhood experiences.

Our Approach

What We Do:

  • We work together with young people and families, listening to everyone’s experiences and respecting different cultures.
  • We make sure our support is caring, fair, and helps everyone feel safe and understood.

How We Help:

  • We offer clinical help (like talking to a counsellor or therapist).
  • Young people can also get support from mentors and join fun, positive activities in the community.
  • Our partner organisations—Juvenis, Youth Ink, Palace for Life, and Charlton Athletic Community Trust—help provide these activities.

Working with Families:

  • We use the Family Partnership Model, which means we work closely with families, focusing on their strengths and working together as a team.
  • If you want to know more about this model, you can visit the Centre for Parent and Child Support (CPCS) website.

Referrals

Referrals are accepted from professionals working with identified groups of at-risk young people, including those in health, education, social care, and youth justice. Each borough has its own referral pathway through local panels or services.

For more information, please see our referrer leaflet.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Young people up to 21 years old
  • Young people who are at risk of violence or have been affected by violence, either directly or indirectly.
  • The programme especially supports young people from communities that are often overlooked or don’t have their voices heard.
