How our service can help you
The Service User Network (SUN) is community-based support group for adults experiencing emotional distress or complex emotional needs. SUN groups offer peer-led support in a safe confidential space, helping individuals manage emotional, relational, social, and practical challenges.
What is SUN?
SUN is not therapy but peer support – offered by people with experience of mental health problems . Together, members can share their experiences of coping with emotional, social and practical stress . Groups are facilitated by two trained mental health professionals and follow a structured format:
-
Check-In : Share how you're feeling and what support you need.
-
Main Discussion : Group-led agenda focused on coping strategies and mutual support.
-
Check-Out : Ensure everyone feels safe before leaving.
New members complete a Crisis and Support Plan to help the group understand how best to support them during difficult times .
The groups are open to adults living in Croydon, Lewisham or Southwark, and you do not need a GP referral to join the group. New members need to be booked in before attending their first group.
Why Join SUN?
SUN groups exist across the UK, and members report:
-
Feeling less alone and more understood
-
Improved coping strategies
-
Reduced contact with crisis services
-
Safer behaviours and better emotional regulation
