Heather Close 24/7 Centre - Opening Spring 2026

The Lewisham 24/7 Community Mental Health Centre is expected to move into its permanent home at Heather Close in Hither Green in Spring 2026.

While this is not a new building and has provided mental health services for many years, it needs internal and external refurbishment — including improvements to the garden — to support a larger team and new facilities.

Our staff and architects have been working closely with service users and carers to gather their ideas and feedback on the interior design plans. We have also shared these plans with residents living in and around Heather Close.

Our plans

The building work at Heather Close is progressing well (click on the links below to see photos as well as plans and images of what the finished building will look like).

We are making new and better spaces for the staff and people who use the service. These new spaces include rooms for therapy and meetings, a café and a bigger office on the first floor.

The windows and doors are being replaced to help improve access for people and to bring more fresh air and light into the building. There will also be large folding doors from the café that open out into the garden.

In the garden, a covered seating area called a pergola will be built over a curved patio, so people can enjoy the garden more often. There will also be a new, safe place to store bikes.

We would like to say a big thank you to the service users and carers who shared their time and ideas in design meetings and workshops. Their support will help Heather Close to be a welcoming, easy-to-use and enjoyable place for everyone.
