Chair Sir Norman Lamb retires after six years at the Trust

After six years at the Trust our Chair, Sir Norman Lamb, is retiring. During his time with us and throughout his career, Norman has been dedicated to improving the lives of people with mental ill-health and we are so incredibly lucky to have had him as our chair.

As a Trust, we have benefitted immensely from his challenge and drive to improve our services, the work we do, and his overall ambition to think about things differently. His work, energy and motivation has set us on a great path that we hope to continue after his retirement.

His work on reducing restrictive practice, community transformation and anti-racism has had an enormous impact on the people who use our services. His work helped us to gain investments to launch community transformation models to support the change and transition from inpatient care to care in the community.

Many staff members shared their gratitude for Norman and everything he has done for the Trust during his six years with us. Some referred to him as an “inspirational leader” and a “beacon of light” with the overwhelming message that he will be dearly missed by everyone. The video below shares some final goodbyes from people who have worked with Norman throughout the years.

We look forward to seeing what Norman does next, and we are sure he will continue to push us and others to be more ambitious and to deliver outstanding mental health care for those that need it.
