Professor Dinesh Bhugra CBE, an expert in mental health and cultural diversity, will be discussing political, commercial and geographical determinants affects on mental health.

This talk will cover social determinants on mental health as well as the impacts on climate change. The event will be in person on Wednesday 29th April and take place at the Wolfson Lecture Theatre at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, next to the Maudsley Hospital in Denmark Hill.

Meet our speaker: Professor Dinesh Bhugra

Professor Dinesh Bhugra is Emeritus Professor of Mental Health and Cultural Diversity at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King’s College London. His research spans social and public health psychiatry, with a focus on cross-cultural psychiatry, migrant mental health, depression, psychosexual medicine, and the provision and decision-making of mental health services.

Professor Bhugra is also honorary Consultant Psychiatrist at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. He has been past President of the British Medical Association (2018–2019), the World Psychiatric Association (2014-2017), and the Royal College of Psychiatrists (2008-2011).
