  • Support you to reach your goals for the future

We treat everyone with respect and dignity.

what we offer

  • People who can help

Our team includes Mental Health Nurses, Peer Support Workers (people with experience of mental health challenges); Psychiatrists (mental health doctors), Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Admin Officers, Social Workers, and Pharmacist together with community support and employment specialists, amongst other professionals.

  • Support from organisations from your local community

We can connect you to advice, support and therapy from other professionals or local groups working in the community, who can help you get back on track. This includes groups with cultural knowledge and understanding.

  • Flexible support

We can support you at our Community Mental Health Centre or meet you at other places in the community such as a café, or at home if you prefer. If you need more intensive support, our service includes a team who can meet you more often, in a place where you feel safe.

We want to help prevent you getting into a crisis and avoid going into hospital. So, if your mental health is getting worse, contact us or drop-in during opening hours if you need to see someone that day. (See contact details at the top of this page)

We have a programme of activities throughout the day for people who need this support we call this our Day Programme.

If you need a higher level of support, we offer a safe, home-like Recovery House where people can stay overnight for a short time, with support available 24 hours a day.

Everyone who uses our centre is a Member

We know getting better takes time, and it helps when you feel connected to others, like you belong, and have something meaningful to do together.

As a member you can ask the team for support at any time. You can also take part in activities or volunteer at the Centre Day Programme.

Taking part in our Day Programme is an important way we support people step by step to get better — whether that means feeling more connected to their community, trying different types of support, or simply discovering what works best for them. People can go at their own pace, and the programme is shaped around each person’s individual needs.

Here is what a typical day is like:

  • Morning: The day begins with a friendly welcome. New people can have an introduction if they want to. Then you can choose from various activities—work on your own, join a group, or get support from trained staff. This will all be guided by your Care Plan. All the activities are displayed on the “What’s On” board.
  • Lunch: When it opens in the Spring, the Heather Close Community Mental Health Centre will offer food and refreshments in our café with opportunities to learn cooking or help prepare meals.
  • Afternoon: Each day will have a simple plan with different themed activities each day, such as:
    • Creative projects
    • Wellbeing sessions
    • Trips into the community
    • Learning helpful life skills
    • Support with social or faith activities at the weekend
